TERRAVIVA - "Banaue Lodge Competition"Project: Adapt-A-Bale

Brief:
Our design intent is to reflect and adapt essence of local Ifugao community both in its cultural and natural landscape; be it inspirations from vernacular architecture like Ifugao bale and farming techniques or climatic responsive design and cascade-like rice terraces through channels. The design concept embodies the flexibility of space with the interplay between day and night, fire and water, rigidity and flexibility, vibrancy and simplicity, and cultivating and harvesting.
The flexible approach to transform the pods as independent units can also be combined with two flexible collapsible tents to accommodate larger group. The vision to create a multi-functional design inspired from traditions, materials, patterns and building modules ensures that the lodge meets the diverse needs of individual travelers and group while respecting the culture natural environment of the Eight Wonder.
