ND's Restaurant

ND’s restaurant boasts a unique design featuring a striking metal ribbed sail structure, akin to the iconic Sydney Opera House. Its vibrant yellow exterior stands out against the grey building, creating a visually captivating contrast. Inside, guests are greeted by a courtyard-like area with helical stairways, adding to the restaurant’s charm. The kitchen seamlessly integrates into the food display zone and service counter, ensuring both efficiency and aesthetic appeal. Overall, ND’s offers not just delicious cuisine but also a visually stunning and inviting atmosphere for diners to enjoy.

Environment Friendly Residence

Alex Shrestha’s eco-friendly residence is designed with simplicity and sustainability in mind. With effective thermal insulation throughout, the house stays comfortably warm without excessive energy consumption. The use of double-glazed windows allows natural light to flood in while maintaining optimal temperature control, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

But what sets this home apart is its reliance on renewable energy sources. Solar panels on the roof generate electricity, while a solar hot-water system ensures warmth without environmental impact. In addition, rainwater and greywater harvesting systems conserve water resources, and a sewage treatment facility ensures responsible waste management.

One of the most innovative features of Alex’s residence is its closed-loop approach to kitchen waste. By converting kitchen scraps into cooking gas and compost, the home minimizes waste while maximizing utility and sustainability.

Advice to young architects

Shrestha advises aspiring architects to seek exposure, learn from both good and bad designs, maintain professional etiquette, engage with people, and continuously hone their skills. Creativity should be balanced with practicality, and proficiency in various software tools is essential for success in the field.
